The benefits of attaching it include reducing the possibility of the tag being accidentally removed, lost, or thrown from your bag if TSA opens it for inspection. There are plenty of accessory options available, such as keychain style, luggage tag style, credit card sized mounts, etc. You can even find customizable options from certain sources, such as Apple.

Where do you put your Airtag?

This is entirely up to you. Obviously, the first consideration is any checked baggage you may have and will not always be on your carry-on. You can place the AirTag in more visible places, such as by simply placing it between clothing or in a zip pocket inside your luggage. If you have an accessory/holder for your AirTag, especially one that can be attached, it’s a good idea to attach it to a zipper or something else inside your bag.
