“It’s fun to stream, but it’s even more fun to play:” Tritz on his return to Pro Play Esport Admin, June 24, 2023 A conversation with Immortals Support, Treatz, about his return to professional play, teammates and goals during the 2023 LCS summer. After spending two years in the LEC with SK, Erik “Treatz” Wessén has returned to North America where he previously competed on TSM’s LCS and Academy teams. Despite not having as much success in terms of team achievements, Tritz has been one of UEFA’s most highly regarded support players during his tenure there, even exceeding most expectations during the summer 2021 season when his role was switched to forest. He’s now reunited with his former bot track partner, Edward “Tactical” Ra’s, as they look to help the Immortals find success in the postseason, something that has eluded the Enterprise during their time in the LCS so far. Return to professional play after the split Welcome back to LCS Treatz. How has it been so far? “It’s good to be back. The games this week were pretty bad, but otherwise, it was good.” The offseason has not been smooth for you. I was late getting in because of visa issues, and then the eviction happened. What was it like waiting the two weeks, not knowing what was going to happen? “It was definitely a strange situation, especially because we had trained a lot on that patch and wanted to play that week. So when there was a two-week break due to the strike and I felt like all the practices at that time were a little bit different, I guess, because we didn’t know what What’s going to happen. Normally, you’d play toward a goal, like playing your first LCS game, etc., and those weeks were pretty weird. But I’m happy to resume it now, at least.” Another thing is that you had a short spring break. You didn’t play. How was it for you? “I did [took a break] After S.K. I was still under contract with them and looking for opportunities. But because of what happened in the off-season, it was so late when SK made it clear to me that I wasn’t going to start anymore, I was kind of stuck there and didn’t really get a chance to get into a good team. So I was in my head just waiting for the summer and seeing the opportunities that would come. And then obviously Immortals with Tactical on the team, was an easy choice for me.” See also Quin jokes that he would quit Dota 2 if he had to play supportYou have a very good history with Tactical, having won the Academy back in 2019. How do you get to play with him again after such a long break? “Yeah, it was a long break. We tried to keep in touch, but obviously when you play in different regions it’s a bit tricky with the time zones. But it’s always fun to play with the tactical ones. Which is definitely a big reason for joining Immortals because I knew That we’ll be a good bot lane together again. Like we’re back in the academy.” Edward “Tactical” Ra (L) and Eric “Tritz” Wiesen of Immortals Progressive team huddle backstage with the team during Week 1 of the 2023 Summer LCS at Riot Games Arena on June 16, 2023. (Photo by Shannon Cottrell/Riot Games) It’s not a tactical secret that has struggled a bit in the last year or so, but since the summer started, it seems very confident in itself and in the path of the bot you have. He’s been a great load for the team in your victories. How are things going so far? “I think he’s someone who needs to be supported to be very aggressive and dominant in his game. I think he’s a very good player at coming after the plays and kind of late into the play. So when he’s in a good frame of mind in the game and he feels like he can carry on, he usually does that, and I think That’s something I can give to him and be supportive of him too.So in general, I think it’s just kind of getting to know the person and getting to know him outside of the game as well. There are a lot of arcade bots that just do scrims and then go home and don’t really talk to each other. But I Eddie and I, we’ve always talked to each other about a lot of things like what we want to play, what we think of certain games, etc. So I think that’s an advantage we have over other bot lanes in the LCS.” See also 10 Best PG-13 Rated Movies on Netflix Right NowWhat about the rest of the team? How do you deal with them? I assume you met them for the first time. “Yeah I did. The upside is also really nice. I think the atmosphere in the team so far has been really good. I think a lot of the yelling was really a great learning experience for us and we had a lot of fun too, so I think that’s important. So in terms of The atmosphere, the atmosphere, everything was really good and now it’s clear that results have to follow.” You seem happy to be back. Are you missing cost? “It’s fun to imagine the cost, but it’s more fun to play. I mean, it’s just different vibes, right? When you cost a lot to the league, you see patterns that you don’t when you play. So I think there’s a lot of things that I saw while dreaming that I kind of miss.” What when I’m playing and I don’t really see it the same way, so I think it’s fun to see the difference.” Today I was watching the cost of Yamato, he said you look particularly comfortable in Milio, the hero who fits in perfectly with Avilios, the best tactics hero so far. Do you think charming lanes is what you excel at in 2v2? “Going back to SK, I definitely played champs more than most, but I would say I’m really comfortable in every support group as well. I think today in the draft, Milio looked really good because of the lane. We knew we were going to have a lot of lane pressure against them and expansion. Well, so it was kind of an easy choice. But honestly, I think we’ll play any kind of combo. We can play the really heavy stuff with Samira and Rell and things like that or play Jinx Milio like we played today. I think we’re really good at playing everything And we are not restricted in terms of what we want to play.” See also Sonic 2: The Movie: Absolute speed and guaranteed fun in this long-awaited sequelSpeaking in general about the summer, I started with two wins. Unfortunately, the rest of the games didn’t fare so well. The playoffs consist of eight teams, so you’re not in that much trouble yet. What are your expectations for the next four weeks? “Obviously a deep run in the playoffs is what I hope for. For me, I play my best, I know there will always be some wins that you get random and some losses that you get random and you have some bad games and some good games. For me, it’s more about looking forward to the playoffs and how we can perform there. We need the wins to get there too, but I’m confident we will. So my head space is I’m trying to think about how we can be the best team we can do in the playoffs and not try Really focus on every game, every win.” So who do you think are some of the best teams in the LCS right now? EG looked really good because Jojopyun was kind of tinkering around every match. TL and EG both started out really strong, but I feel like they’re not going to expand as well in the division. I think they’re pretty good at playing these aggressive champions who do well early in the game. The split. If you’re not a good team and a coordinated team, he’ll kind of take over. But I think, so far at least, the Golden Guardians and Cloud9 have looked the most impressive.” Treatz and Immortals will be looking to bounce back from a four-game losing streak in Week 3 of the 2023 LCS Summer Split. They have a difficult schedule, facing off against Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, and FlyQuest. Fans can watch all three matches at the official level LoL Esports website or LCS twitch And Youtube channels.
