How to unlock, rewards, enemies and more

Diablo 4 has been the talk of the town since its launch on June 6th. As many players make their way through the role-playing game, many of them have already completed the main quest and are currently at the end of the game. Helltide events in Diablo 4 are a type of global event that unlocks at the end of the game. Notably, players are required to finish the game’s main story before they can access the Helltides and must also have a character within level 3 or above.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Helltide events in Diablo 4, and how to unlock and find them. This guide will also walk you through the rewards of the event and give you a glimpse of the enemies you will face.

Unlock the events and enemies of Diablo 4 Hell

Helltide events are a new form of endgame content for Diablo 4 that features both challenging missions and promising rewards. When the Helltides occur, the area is marked on the map with a dark red line. They can appear at random times and occur in different areas of Sanctuary but you will be notified in advance when Helltide is about to happen. When the area turns red, marking the events of Helltide, you will have a specific amount of time to join the fight and help cleanse the army of demons.

Hell-stricken regions will have their natural share of enemies and also a host of demons and cultists who are not native to the sanctuary. Apart from these, you will also find Helltide bosses that only spawn in these specific areas. Common enemies are called Helltide Commanders and bosses will have their own unique names.

Kixxarth also named Helltide Assassin is the boss that will spread throughout all of Helltide. You will likely find him wandering around a small part of the affected area.

But before we get into how to fight during the events of Helltide, let’s see how to unlock it first.

Helltide events do not appear automatically in Diablo 4 and as mentioned before, you need to have access to World Tier 3: Nightmare. For this, you will have to complete the main campaign of Diablo 4 and finish the Light Capstone Cathedral on Veteran level. Note that this requires a level of 50-70 characters, which basically indicates the end of the game.

Once you unlock World Tier 3, Helltide events will randomly appear on the map across any of the five regions. Notably, the Helltide event can easily last around an hour and all enemies will be heavily empowered.

Unfortunately, during the Helltides, the sky will turn red and it will rain blood.

Helltide Events: Deviant Ashes, loot, and rewards

Now that we know how to unlock Helltide events, let’s dive into combat and loot. You will have the opportunity to kill the monsters that spawn from these Helltide events. In doing so, you grow this item called Aberrant Cinders. They are more than a drop of enemies killed during the Helltides.

Once you’ve collected at least 75 Abrants, you’ll be able to unlock Torment Chests around active Helltide areas. Note that these chests will appear at random locations throughout the Helltide region. You will also see it marked on your map.

Keep in mind that you must redeem your Aberrant Tokens within the hour when Helltide spawns. If you fail to do so, they will disappear as the event ends. In addition, when you die, you will also lose a certain amount of anomaly ash.

Your other loot from these events includes end-game items such as extremely rare weapons, jewelry, and gear. You can also get Sacred Items and Ancestral Items when you open the Gift of Tormented Secrets. You will also have a chance to get Forgotten Souls or Fiend Rose while cultivating Helltide, killing enemies, or unlocking torture gifts.
