Genshin Impact 4.0 release date and countdown

Genshin Impact is approaching its third anniversary, and players are eagerly anticipating the arrival of version 4.0, which will introduce the new Fontaine region. Following Genshin’s patch schedule, each patch usually lasts 42 days. Currently, the game is on Patch 3.7, which was released on May 24, 2023. Based on this information, we can assume that Patch 3.8 will be released on July 5, 2023, and since there will be no Patch 3.9, players can expect 4.0 to be released on August 16, 2023. However, it’s important to note that these dates are subject to change, as the Hoyoverse has been known to make adjustments.

Genshin Impact Patch 4.0 will be released simultaneously across all servers, and a live countdown is available for players. Server maintenance is expected from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM (UTC+8), which is the usual time for Genshin patch release days.

What we can expect from Genishin Impact Patch 4.0

Similar to previous updates, Hoyoverse will introduce the fifth explorable region in Teyvat with 4.0. Each area represents an elemental power, with Mondstadt representing Wind (Anemo), Liyue Geo representing Inazuma Electro, and Sumeru representing Dendro. According to the available information and leaks, Fontaine is expected to represent the water element. Once Fontaine is released, only two regions will remain, Natlan representing Pyro and Snezhnaya representing Cryo, unless the Hoyoverse surprises with a new elemental region.

Each region in the game has a basic theme associated with it. Mondstadt personifies freedom, Liyue represents contracts, Inazuma symbolizes eternity, and Sumeru represents knowledge or wisdom. Speculation is that Fontaine will be themed around justice or law, which is inferred from in-game information. As a result, players can expect the characters and area design in Fontaine to reflect this theme.

The Hoyoverse actually teased Fontaine during a 3.7-minute Patch Livestream on May 13, 2023. A short clip showed the traveler swimming underwater. In the pattern of previous releases, players can expect more teasers and a detailed area view during upcoming Patch Livestreams for 3.8 (around June 23) and 4.0 (around August 4), based on the Hoyoverse release schedule.
