Airline offers are legit. They don’t try to scam you when they announce a sale but you can’t find any promotional seats. The problem is that it’s getting harder and harder to catch as thousands of people bid for a limited number of seats.

If you’ve been trying to score promotional Cebu Pacific rates but always fail to locate any, it’s time to sit down and check if you’re doing it right. Here are some tips!

While AirAsia is widely credited with revolutionizing air travel in mainland Southeast Asia, in the Philippines, the honor has always been Cebu Pacific Air.

For the longest time, the phrase low-cost carrier has been synonymous with Cebu Pacific. They may have coined the term “peso fare,” and any mention of it is sure to get any budget traveler excited. For years, Cebu Pacific has brought flying closer to more Filipinos. We know this because our blog, in its early years, was mostly powered by these pesos!

In fact, we flew Cebu Pacific on our first trip as bloggers. We managed to get a round trip ticket from one of their seat sales. At that time, there were not many additional fees. Promotional tickets at that time cost no more than P100. Today, Cebu Pacific continues its tradition of making air travel more affordable. Although I sometimes find their fares throughout the year to be more expensive than those of other airlines, what I like about CEB is that when they say they offer deep discounts, they mean it. They don’t just rip off a few hundred pesos and call it a massive PR sale. When they do, they do it with BANG.

If you’ve been trying to score promotional Cebu Pacific rates but always fail to locate any, it’s time to sit down and check if you’re doing it right. But first, understand how these sales work.

• Only a limited number of seats are for sale. The number of seats on the plane is not infinite. And as much as we’d like the airlines to all put it up for sale, it won’t because they need to turn a profit too! If you are a big group and want to be on the same flight, good luck with that.
• Often published prices refer to base prices only. Base fares are seat costs, minus all government taxes, station fees, and other surcharges. Base fares are the bulk of the fare that is actually under the control of the airline. When Cebu Pacific says PISO FARE, what they mean is that the base rate is P1 only. Add all taxes and other fees, and this is the total amount you need to settle to complete your reservation.
• You must be early. first come first served. Even when the sale period lasts for several days, don’t expect to see promotional prices in the last few days. Chances are, others may have already reserved those precious seats before you. The good news is that Cebu Pacific is now making SOLD OUT ads.
• You must be fast. Each client is given a limited time to book each session. The exact seat you’re looking at may disappear in a matter of minutes (or seconds).

The first step to getting a promotional price is knowing when to sell.

Booking promotional fare is like going to war. haha. Thousands of hungry bargain hunters will fight for a very limited number of seats. Get ready for battle!

• Fast and reliable internet connection. The faster the connection, the better. Airline websites slow down while selling due to the sheer number of people and having a poor connection would only make things worse. Fortunately, Cebu Pacific has greatly improved over the past few years. In fact, it’s much easier to book now and you can see multiple dates at once, unlike before. Even in peak moments, downtimes rarely occur.
• Cebu Pacific Air / GETGO account. GetGo is Cebu Pacific’s loyalty/rewards program, and being a member has its own perks. If you have a GetGo account, you do not need to enter your personal details and credit card details when booking a flight. Time is very important while selling seats. Having an account will save you time and effort. Some sales are also exclusive to GetGo members; Some give them early access or early notice.
• Your travel details. Your target destination, travel dates and preferred time.
• Details of your plan b. In the event that your first choice isn’t available anymore, having an alternate destination or date ready will make the process go much more smoothly. This will help to check how many promotional seats are available. The listing is usually posted on the website’s promotional page hours before the actual sale. This will help you find out which routes have more discounted seats, and thus more chances of getting promotional tickets.
• Personal details of your companion. These include your full name and date of birth. Usually, the passport number is not a required field. You can also ask your companion for their seat (aisle or window) and meal preferences in advance.
• Lots of patience. It is not easy to book promotional flights. It takes a lot of patience and determination, hahaha. When the site goes down or the connection falters, don’t give up easily. Just keep facing the game!

1. Visit the official website of Cebu Pacific Air: www.cebupacificair.com.
2. Choose your origin, destination, travel dates and number of passengers. Book in small batches. This is something I have proven many times. When you book for a large number of people at one time, the site does not display promotional rates. But when you book for only 1 or 2 people, you can get the same flight (same plane, same day, same time).
3. Click Search. If there are too many people accessing the site, you will be asked to wait.
4. Choose your flights. Once on the results page, you can choose the flight. You can also clear other dates. The lowest fare is displayed just below the date (tab label). Once you find a promotional rate on the date you want, click on the rate and choose your add-ons. You may choose to add baggage allowance and/or meals. Then click Continue (the blue button in the lower right corner of the screen).
5. Enter the details of each passenger. They will need your full names, dates of birth, and nationality. Click Continue.
6. Choose your add-ons. (my choice). This includes extra baggage allowance, seat preference, meals, and insurance (Travel Shore). Click Continue.
7. See reservation details.
8. Pay. You can pay by credit card, debit card, Paypal, AliPay or payment center.
